We may not have been in the spotlight, but I've had the best seat in the house - bringing every ride, every cheer, and every moment to life through sound. This honor means the world to me because it represents the voices, the people, and heartbeat of high school rodeo. We are proud to be part of high school rodeo for 43 years."

From the age of 4, Jim wanted to be a cowboy. He competed, but his legacy was as a rodeo photographer extraordinaire. A side job to pay entry fees turned into 60 plus years capturing timeless memories for 5 generations of cowboys and cowgirls.

Jim lived and loved rodeo, especially the high school kids. “Life ain’t always beautiful, but it’s a beautiful ride. Keep on keepin’ on!”

Jack Hannum was a fierce competitor and successful at every level of rodeo. He was full

of integrity and was passionate about always making the sport of rodeo better. A quote he

often stated, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going”.

Jim was known for his charisma, work ethic, fairness, and honesty. He firmly believed in the principle of “paying it forward. ” He frequently stressed the importance of encouraging children and supporting their passions. He often said, “It’s important to keep good kids good and support the activities they are involved in. If you can’t help the kids, then what

good are you?”

I am honored to have been selected for such a prestigious award. Utah High School Rodeo

has been such a huge part of my life and the lives of my entire family. It is where I got my

start at becoming a world champion saddle bronc rider, and it has and continues to help

shape my children's lives as well. UHSRA is a great pathway for our youth to realize and

pursue their dreams! “Lean into the dream. ”

The opportunity to compete in the UHSRA gave me the experience, life long friendships, and the confidence to pursue many life goals.  I am great full both of my daughters have the same opportunity 30 yrs later to chase their own goals and ambitions.

There is no better investment of time and money than in the life of a child. They are the future” (Alma Powell) I am forever grateful for the time spent serving the great youth of the UHSRA and it’s amazing rodeo families. I am humbled and honored to receive this kind recognition.

Lewis won three straight World All-Around titles and two World Bareback titles. He was the first rough stock contestant to surpass One Million in career earnings. Lewie was a man’s man and a cowboy’s cowboy. The Field family thanks the UHSRA for this honor
